On the evening of 9 April 2026, SHINE — Susan's Hub for Innovation, Nurturing and Empowerment — officially opened its doors at Milnerton Mall in Cape Town. The one-hour launch event brought together community members, partners, volunteers, and supporters to celebrate the beginning of a new chapter in women's empowerment.
The opening marks the start of a meaningful journey: creating a dedicated space where women and girls can gain practical skills, explore creativity, and build pathways toward sustainable livelihoods.
About SHINE
SHINE is inspired by the legacy of Susan Kristoferson and her commitment to community upliftment and women's empowerment. The centre is powered by Bee Solutions and Consultancy Services and supported by the Diamond Valley Sustainable Living Centre in Canada. The initiative is funded by the friends and family of the late Susan Kristoferson.
The centre offers training in sewing and garment construction, entrepreneurship and business skills, and community mentorship — equipping women with the tools they need to build independent, dignified livelihoods.
What Happened at the Launch
Guests were welcomed with an introduction to SHINE and its vision, followed by insight into the training and empowerment programmes that will be running from the centre. Attendees had the opportunity to experience the space first-hand, and the evening closed with networking among community members, partner organisations, and supporters.
